About Sahika Inal

I am an associate professor of Bioengineering with affiliations in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering programs at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). I set up my own research group at KAUST as an assistant professor in 2016 after completing my postdoctoral training in the Department of Bioelectronics at the Center of Microelectronics of Provence of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France). I have a B.Sc. degree in Textile Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), an M.Sc. in Polymer Science, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics, both from the University of Potsdam (Germany).

I have a diverse educational background, which I use to build electronic devices that can interface with living systems and detect or treat diseases in ways that have not been possible before. My group exploits the functionalities of organic electronic materials, which are carbon-based semiconductors, for interfacing the living tissue, and design bio-sensing and stimulation platforms with unique capabilities.
